How to turn on 2-step verification for Google
To set Gmail as the default email handler in Chrome, navigate to Chrome settings, go to "Privacy and Security" > "Site Settings" > "Additional permissions" > "Protocol handlers", enable "Sites can ask to handle protocols", then open Gmail and allow it to handle email links.
You can also type chrome://settings/handlers into the url bar.
